- About the Author: Lola Shoneyin


Lola Shoneyin is a celebrated Nigerian poet, novelist, and children’s author. Her acclaimed novel The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives has won multiple literary awards and was longlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction. She has authored several poetry collections and children’s books including Mayowa and the Masquerades and Iyaji the Housegirl.
A passionate promoter of African literature, Shoneyin is the founder and director of the Ake Arts & Book Festival, held annually in Abeokuta, Nigeria. Her work continues to inspire readers of all ages through her vivid storytelling and commitment to cultural representation.
