- About the Author: Lola Shoneyin


Lola Shoneyin is an award-winning Nigerian author, poet, and advocate for African storytelling. Her literary works include several poetry collections and the critically acclaimed novel The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, which won the PEN Oakland Josephine Miles Literary Award and was longlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction.
She is also the author of beloved children’s books such as Mayowa and the Masquerades and Iyaji the Housegirl. Shoneyin is the founder and director of the Ake Arts & Book Festival, a leading platform for African writers and creatives. She lives in Nigeria and continues to enrich African literature with compelling, diverse narratives.
