Offer Description

The Five Sorrowful Mysteries of Andy Africa is a bold, tragicomic, and highly original debut novel that explores adolescence, identity, race, and faith through the eyes of a brilliant but conflicted teenager growing up in northern Nigeria.
✨ Fifteen-year-old Andrew Aziza, reluctantly nicknamed "Andy Africa," spends his days in Kontagora navigating school, church, and wild philosophical musings about mathematics, Black power, and HXVX—the Curse of Africa.
✨ Obsessed with Western ideals and blonde girls, Andy’s fantasies collide with reality when he falls for Eileen, a white girl newly arrived in town.
✨ But the church party welcoming her spirals into chaos: an anti-Christian mob gathers outside, and an unfamiliar man insists he is Andy’s long-lost father.
✨ These twin revelations force Andy to confront everything he thought he knew about family, faith, and the future.
✨ Stephen Buoro’s debut is a dazzling reflection on postcolonial Africa, religion, race, and the impossible complexities of growing up in a world caught between cultural pride and Western infiltration.
✅ Key Highlights
