About Metabase
Metabase is an open source business intelligence and embedded analytics tool. It connects to your database or data warehouse so that people across a company can ask questions, build charts and share dashboards, without needing to write SQL.
Answers are guided by a semantic layer: the metrics and business logic your data team defines. Metabase says you can inspect the query behind every answer, whether the question comes from a colleague or from an AI agent.
The built-in assistant, Metabot, lets people query data in plain English. Metabase also offers a visual query builder, an SQL editor, drill-through on charts, and an MCP server for working with your data from other tools.

You can run the open source edition yourself, for example with Docker, or use the hosted cloud service. Metabase lists SOC 1, SOC 2, GDPR and CCPA compliance on its site.
